What is POP3?

POP3 is short for Post Office Protocol version 3.

This is used for incoming mail to retrieve email from a mail server.

POP3 is mainly designed for disconnected operation and welll suited to both permanent (broadband) and dialup connections.

POP3 runs by default on TCP/IP port 110.
