What is IMAP4?

IMAP4 - Internet Messsage Access Protocol (version 4). It is more commonly known as just 'IMAP' and was formerly known as 'Interactive Mail Access Protocol'.

IMAP is mainly designed for permanent connection (although it can also support disconnected operation).

IMAP runs by default on TCP/IP port 143.
